Pediatric dentistry

Dental treatment for the youngest

Pediatric dentistry is a special area of medicine.

Young patients require a thoughtful and delicate approach, they do not tolerate mistakes on the part of the doctor. If you are worried about how a child will perceive a visit to the doctor, you don't have to worry, Oleksiuk's Dental Clinic takes care of patients of any age, so it offers very comfortable conditions for children and the most caring approach.

You should make an appointment with a pediatric dentist as soon as your child's teeth erupt - the sooner you start introducing your child to the dental office, the better it will be for both him or her and you. Regular visits to the pediatric dentist will help prevent the onset of dangerous diseases, as well as choose the appropriate oral care for the child's age, because caring for baby teeth and their delicate enamel is different from caring for adults.

Milk teeth can be easily damaged and "neglected" - in case of early loss of a milk tooth due to caries, it will be necessary to install a plate to maintain space for a future permanent tooth, which is unnecessary intervention and anxiety.

In addition, the lesion on the primary tooth can also pass to the permanent tooth, and the tooth will erupt already "sick".

A special approach

A visit to a pediatric dentist at Oleksiuk Dentistry is a whole ritual with games and gifts. We have created an atmosphere that evokes positive emotions: a children's corner in the waiting room, specialized children's dental offices, watching favorite cartoons during treatment. We always make pleasant surprises for our young patients after an examination or treatment as a sign of gratitude for their courage, as well as to make them more brave and willing to come to the clinic next time.

We can guarantee that the child will not be hurt during the procedures - we use proven anesthesia in favorable dosages, and the doctor's assistant closely monitors the condition of the little patient while the doctor performs his work.

Our doctors will help the child to adapt to the situation in a playful way, show that treatment is not always painful and unpleasant, and create the right associations with the image of the doctor. A pediatric dentist will definitely tell you how to teach your child to brush their teeth properly and control this process, how to choose a brush and paste, what foods are good and bad for milk teeth, and much more.

What do we offer?

For the first time, the baby's parents have to make an appointment with a referral from a pediatrician for a comprehensive examination.

A preventive examination of baby teeth is necessary because they are covered with thinner enamel than adult teeth. As a result, caries develops much faster. It is worth making an appointment with a doctor at the dental clinic "Oleksiuk's Dentistry" in order to detect an incorrect bite in time and try to correct it in childhood - teenagers are often painful to plates and braces.

 Our staff of experienced therapists, hygienists, surgeons and orthodontists work in all areas of children's dental treatment, namely:

  • Prevention of dental diseases in a child from the time the first teeth erupt:
  • Consultation and individual selection of products for the care of teeth and the oral cavity in general;
  • Prevention of caries in milk teeth and permanent teeth immediately after their eruption (deep fluoridation, fissure sealing);
  • Treatment of non-carious diseases of primary and permanent teeth, as well as their prevention;
  • Cooperation with specialists of various dental and non-dental specialties for children with serious and concomitant diseases;
  • Consultation with an orthodontist starting from the age of 5-6 years (and, if necessary, from a younger age) to prevent the formation of an incorrect bite in a child and to start treatment in time.

First visit to the dentist

The first visit to a pediatric dentist is a crucial event not only in the child's life, but also in the life of his or her parents. After all, the first visit to the dentist determines what impressions the child will have in adulthood and whether they will be pleasant or dentophobic, which is not uncommon. That is why we recommend that the child's first visit to the dentist should be for familiarization and preventive purposes.

When to take your child to the dentist?

When your baby reaches 1 year of age, you can tell him or her that he or she is big and it's time to meet a dentist who will examine the teeth and tell you if they are growing properly. You shouldn't postpone the first visit to the dentist until a later age, because, unfortunately, caries gets younger, as do bite problems. In the future, visits to the dentist should become regular - in accordance with the individual schedule drawn up by the doctor, at least twice a year.

How to prepare a child for a visit to the clinic?

1. An authoritative adult who is not afraid of the dentist should talk to the child. The child is very sensitive, he will feel your tension and fear.

Inform about the visit no more than 1-2 days in advance, so the child will have less time to worry or hear "scary" stories from peers.

Give a "strong" argument: "When my mom and dad were little, they also went to the dentist to check their teeth."

2. Do not say that the doctor will do nothing.

The child will realize that he or she has been deceived and will lose trust in you.

Pediatric dentists at Oleksiuk's Dentistry pay special attention to the first contact with the baby.

Describe the actions that a dentist usually performs: "The doctor will look at and count your teeth, brush them, tell you what your teeth like. And maybe the doctor will want to take a picture of them."

Do not tell your child about anesthesia, extractions, or other medical procedures.

3. Do not use the words "don't be afraid", "it won't hurt", "it's not scary", "other children are not afraid", "injection", "drill", "drill". Thoughts that a visit to the dentist may cause him/her pain have not yet visited your child.

4. The first visit to the clinic can be practiced at home. Teach your child to keep his or her mouth open for 1-2 minutes, and compete to see who can do it longer. You can play a doctor with your child, "treat" the doll's mouth by brushing its teeth (without using sharp objects).

5. Do not promise your child that you will buy him a new toy, sweets, etc. He may think that he has to do something very difficult. He will be able to choose a gift for courage himself at the end of the visit. It is better to finish the visit to the clinic with a pleasant joint leisure time.

What to do if a child is afraid of a doctor?

It is more difficult if the child has a negative experience with the doctor. In this case, it is better to find another clinic, preferably one where doctors have special training and know how to communicate with children, and it will be optimal if the clinic provides special children's anesthesia and children's fillings. An example of such a clinic is our dental clinic "Oleksiuk's Dentistry", which specializes in the treatment of children and has the most modern equipment in its arsenal. Before going to the doctor, you should assure your child that he or she will go to a completely different clinic, to a different doctor, and everything will not be the same as the last time.
